Most of us South Jersey-ites know ARI’s Melissa Birmingham as a indefatigable supporter of Autism Speaks and the fight to bring hope to children and families impacted by autism spectrum disorder. When she wrote to me this morning, though, she had something else on her mind. She told me that TRC Supervisor Steve Costello has been spearheading an effort to wear red on Fridays as a way to show support for soldiers deployed throughout the world. Red Shirt Friday is a national effort to let our service members and their families know that the American people recognize and remember their sacrifice.

To be part of this effort, simply remember the sacrifices of the men and women of our armed forces as you dress for work on Friday by wearing red. It seems like a small but powerful act.
